The Parish Council have been dissatisfied with the service provided by Buckinghamshire Council in the maintenance of the verges and paths inside the 30 mile hour limit within the villages and have decided to take up “devolved services” whereby the Parish Council take on the responsibility for this service.
Many other parishes have taken this option, and the result is that the urban areas of villages are maintained to a higher standard and in turn genders greater pride in the villages encouraging residents to be mindful of the contribution to the appearance of the village the front of their properties make.
Whist there will be some expense in taking on this responsibility, from experience by other parishes, this is considered a worthwhile way to spend some of the parish funds. Some monies will be forthcoming from Buckinghamshire Council but this will not cover the maintenance to the standard we are seeking.
Tenders will be sought from three contractors for the works and the one offering the best overall service will be engaged to carry out the necessary works. The tenders received will be brought before the Parish Council for discussion and a vote will be taken to appoint the contractor chosen. The works will hopefully commence in April 2025.
